DIV attends the workshop on Deposit insurance framework in Laos


From 8-12/8/2017 in Vientiane, Laos, the delegation of the Deposit Insurance of Vietnam (DIV) led by Deputy General Director – Mr. Vu Van Long, attended the workshop on “Deposit Insurance Framework” held by the Deposit Protection Fund of Laos (DPF).

Participants at the workshop were Ms. Sengdaovy Vongkhamsao - DPF General Director and representatives from DPF’s functional departments. DIV’s participants were Mr. Vu Van Long – Deputy General Director, senior officers and staff members from departments at DIV’s headquarters and branches. The event was also attended by officers from the Bank of Laos.

At the workshop, Mr. Vu Van Long and senior officer from DIV’s functional departments presented practices and experiences, such as: functions and duties of Personnel and Human resources Department, DIV’s Office and Internal Control Department. These key functional activities of DIV attracted great attention and high appreciation from participants.

As part of the business trip, DIV had a bilateral meeting with DPF to review the cooperation history between two organizations and exchange viewpoints on functions, mandates and implementation process of deposit insurance activities. The General Director of DPF - Ms. Sengdaovy Vongkhamsao highly appreciated DIV’s on-going support to date, and  expected that the bilateral cooperation between two organizations would contribute to the sustainable development and soundness of the banking system in each country. Ms. Sengdaovy hoped that DIV would continue to support DPF in providing short-term training courses for DPF’s staff and sharing practices of deposit insurance policies implementation.

In response, DIV representative - Deputy General Director, Mr. Vu Van Longexpressed gratitude for DPF Laos’s appreciation and invited DPF Laos to participate in the 16th APRC Annual Meeting in April 2018 held by DIV in Hanoi. He hoped that DIV and DPF would exchanged more practical and effective coordination activities for the development of both organizations.
