On November 14, 2018, delegation from Korea’s Financial Services Commission (FSC) and Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation (KDIC) paid a visit and worked with Deposit Insurance of Vietnam at the headquarters. The meeting was aimed at exchanging and sharing information on several issues of mutual concern.
The Korean delegation was represented by Mr. Chang-ho Yoon – Director General for Financial and Corporate Restructuring Policy Bureau, FSC and Mr. Jeong Chan Hyung - Executive Director, KDIC along with other members of FSC and KDIC. Mr. Nguyen Linh Nam, the DIV’s Deputy Director General received and had a working session with the delegation.
At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Linh Nam presented the current situation and major issues occurring in the finance and banking sector in Vietnam to the Korean delegation. In particular, the Korean experts paid a lot of attention to the restructuring of banking system in Vietnam. They also, in turn spoke briefly about the history and highlights of financial restructuring process in Korea as well as the practical lessons learned from the past. Especially, FSC’s representatives were getting more enthusiastic about sharing information as they knew that DIV was deeply concerned about improving its capacity in the process of supervising, examining, intervening in and resolving weak credit institutions.Group photo of Mr. Nguyen Linh Nam-DIV’s Deputy General Director, and FSC’s representatives
Mr. Nguyen Linh Nam hoped that FSC and KDIC would share experiences with DIV’s staff on their strengths such as supervision, resolution of problem financial institutions and the method of assessing risk-based premiums. Both sides highly agreed on holding a workshop on these issues at the soonest time possible.
