With the goal of sharing knowledge and experiences in the field of deposit insurance (DI), DIV collaborated with DPO to organize a Seminar on "Enhancing DI Framework" and a high-level bilateral meeting to assess the cooperation results between the two organizations, as well as to discuss future cooperation plans.
On August 1st and 2nd, 2023, the seminar with the theme "Enhancing DI Framework" was held with the participation of Mr. Pham Bao Lam - Chairman of DIV's Board of Directors; Ms. Phan Thi Thanh Binh - Deputy General Director; members of the Board of Directors and the Board of Management; Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hien - General Controller of DIV; and representatives of the leadership, officials from several departments and units participating in presentations.
The seminar focused on three areas of concern to the DPO, including: (i) Communication experiences to enhance depositors' awareness of the DI policy; (ii) DIV's research, proposals for amending and supplementing the DI Law; (iii) Supervisory operations for insured institutions. Speakers at the seminar provided valuable information and knowledge that the DPO could learn from and apply. Particularly, the discussion session after each presentation drew active participation from the DPO, contributing to a better understanding of the presented content.

Following the seminar, the two organizations collaborated to hold a high-level bilateral meeting. On the DIV’s side, Ms. Phan Thi Thanh Binh - Deputy Director General, along with representatives of leadership and staff from the Research and International Cooperation Department, attended the meeting.
Speaking at the meeting, Ms. Sengdaovy Vongkhamsao - Director General of the DPO, mentioned that since the signing of the most recent Memorandum of Understanding in 2015, the two organizations have effectively implemented numerous activities to share information and knowledge about DI. As a result, the DPO has gained valuable experiences to supplement and enhance its operations, improve the capabilities of its personnel, and contribute to the successful fulfillment of its assigned tasks.
The bilateral meeting
On this occasion, the DPO expressed its desire for the DIV to continue sharing knowledge and expertise in operational and technical aspects of DI, especially related to the process of developing the DI Law, considering that Laos is currently in the process of researching and proposing the construction of such a law.
The leadership representatives of the DIV expressed their support and commitment to assisting Laos by enhancing exchange activities, sharing experiences, and diversifying cooperative efforts between the two organizations in the coming period.
At the conclusion of the working program, the DPO expressed profound gratitude for the warm and hospitable reception provided by the DIV. Both organizations hoped that their cooperative relationship would become even stronger and more successful in the future
