Conference on review of Information, Education, and Communication (I.E.C) work of the Deposit Insurance of Vietnam: Communication – a bridge to public 02:52-15/10/2010

Special guests attending the conference were: Mr. Le Xuan Nghia - Deputy Chairman of the NFSC, Mrs. Duong Thu Huong - General Secretary of the Viet Nam Banks Association (VNBA), Mr.  Phung Van Hung - Director of Library and Scientific Research Center under the National Assembly Office;
Representatives from concerned ministries and bodies were: Central Committee for Propaganda and Education, State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), Ministry of Finance, and news & press agencies.
Representatives from the DIV included: Mr. Mai Minh De - Chairman of Boar of Directors, Mr. Bui Khac Son - General Director, deputy General Directors, Directors of Regional branches, Directors of Departments and Divisions of the Head Office, and many other collaborators of DIV.
After 10-year operation, thanks to Board of Directors, Board of Management and efforts of in-house communication staff, DIV’s I.E.C takes an active role as a bridge between the DIV and the insured institutions, depositors, and authorized state organizations. The I.E.C work has become even more professional by linking its activities to the objectives, short term and long term development strategies, values, brand of the DIV, diversification of internal communication editions (particularly the website of the DIV and the News Bulletin of the DIV), expansion on cooperation with domestic and international communication agencies in all kinds of media, from newspapers, radio to television, and online news. Especially, in the environment of the global financial crisis that has made negative impacts on the financial banking system, The I.E.C of the DIV has carried on its vital “mission” in maintaining confidence of depositors with no panic or bank run.
However, beside achievements, the I.E.C work of the DIV faces challenges - for example, the products and services of the DIV are not directly related to the public and have not created two-way interaction – between the DIV and the public in addition to its limited financial capacity and human resources…
On this occasion, the DIV gave awards to individuals, groups that have attained eminent achievements in I.E.C work.
Reviewing the I.E.C work of the DIV, attendees shared a high appreciation of the I.E.C of the DIV in common that I.E.C activities have been undertaken in a methodical, professional, directive, strategic manner. “10-year operation is not a long period comparing with a person’s life but what have been attained, particularly in helping people have a clear understanding of an institution, a right policy of the State of Vietnam, thereby contributing to creating public credibility over the banking system –is the biggest and significant award for the DIV’s I.E.C work” – stressed Mrs. Duong Thu Huong – General Secretary of the VNBA.
