There are guest speakers and participants from several deposit insurers in the region, including the DIV, the Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation (KDIC), the Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation (IDIC), the Deposit Protection Agency of Thailand (DPA), the Central Bank of Laos (BoL) and public institutions of Laos. At the Seminar, speakers shared overviews of their deposit insurance missions and policies, the legitimate rights and interests of depositors and public institutions. They introduced main points of the Law on Deposit Insurance in each country.
As a speaker, Ms. Phan Thi Thanh Binh - Deputy General Director of the DIV delivered the presentation titled "Introduction of the Deposit Insurance System in Vietnam", which introduced the functions and missions of the DIV, the roles of the DIV in protecting financial consumers in general and depositors in particular. These functions will serve the stabilization of the financial system and orient the activities of the DIV in the future following the Deposit Insurance Development Strategy. Ms Binh’s presentation received attention and lively discussion of the participants.

On the sidelines of the Seminar, the DIV delegation met with Mr. Vongphachanh Sengsouvanh – the DPO’s General Director and his colleagues. He expressed his thanks to the DIV delegation for attending and sharing the DIV’s experience which greatly contributed to the success of the Seminar. Mr. Sengsouvanh hoped that the DIV would continue to share knowledge and expertise on its strengths, especially on the amendment of the Vietnam’s Law on Deposit Insurance when the DPO has been developing the Law on Deposit Insurance of Laos.

On behalf of the DIV delegation, Ms. Pham Bao Khanh - Executive member of the Board of Directors, congratulated the DPO for successfully organizing the Seminar on its 25th anniversary (1999-2024). Ms. Khanh also conveyed willingness and commitment to continue to support the DPO by promoting exchange activities, sharing experiences and diversifying cooperation. She also expressed her hope for a closer relationship between the two organizations in the years to come.
