Mr. Tien-mu Huang, CDIC Chairman, presented commemorative medals to senior leaders from deposit insurers with longstanding partnerships with CDIC.
The year 2025 marks the 40th anniversary of CDIC’s establishment. As one of the region’s and the world’s earliest and most advanced deposit insurers, CDIC has made numerous contributions to APRC and IADI since their inception. These contributions include serving as Chair of IADI’s Research Committee - which develops and revises the Core Principles for Effective Deposit Insurance Systems (Core Principles), Chair of APRC’s Training and Technical Assistance Committee, and active participation in several other key committees.

The DIV delegation attended the CDIC’s 40th Anniversary Celebration and the IADI Technical Assistance Workshop in Taipei, China.
The anniversary ceremony was solemnly held with the participation of a large number of senior officials from the governments, financial supervisory authorities, central banks, and international deposit insurers from around the world. Delegates were presented with an overview of CDIC’s development journey through documentary videos, a congratulatory speech by the Premier of Taipei, China, and heartfelt remarks from international deposit insurers.
In addition to the commemorative activities, the international workshop on the draft revision of the Core Principles for Effective Deposit Insurance Systems - expected to be officially released by the end of 2025 - jointly organized by CDIC and IADI, attracted strong interest and participation from deposit insurers within and outsides the region, as well as experts and policymakers.

The General Director of DIV, on behalf of the delegation, presented an anniversary gift to the CDIC Chairman.
The workshop focused on emerging trends in the field of deposit insurance, particularly the revision and implementation of IADI’s Core Principles in the context of increasing global financial market volatility. Other important topics currently receiving significant attention from researchers and the public include strengthening comprehensive cooperation among financial safety-net participants, optimizing inter-agency coordination in crisis resolution, enhancing depositor protection, and improving the adaptability of deposit insurance systems in response to the rapid development of financial technology.
Workshop sessions also discussed the enhancement of legal frameworks, supervisory mechanisms, and emphasized the pivotal role of deposit insurance in fostering public confidence, approaches to protecting depositors, and maintaining financial stability in the future. Numerous lessons learned from recent banking crises around the world were shared, offering regulatory bodies, including DIV, a multi-dimensional perspective to improve policies and operational effectiveness.

With a cooperation relationship formalized by a Memorandum of Understanding in 2006, DIV and CDIC have enjoyed nearly 20 years of strong and fruitful collaboration. Over the years, the two organizations have conducted numerous practical activities, including organizing seminars, dialogues, study visits, and regular bilateral and multilateral experience-sharing. Looking ahead, both DIV and CDIC aim to strengthen their close partnership further, expanding areas of cooperation to jointly enhance institutional capacity and operational efficiency, and better respond to new challenges in an increasingly integrated and digitally driven world.
