According to the Decision, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue is the Chairman of the Council. Governor of State Bank of Vietnam Le Minh Hung is appointed the permanent Vice President of the Council; the two other Vice Presidents of the Council are Minister of Finance Dinh Tien Dung and Chairman of the National Financial Supervisory Committee Vu Viet Ngoan.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc signed the Decision No.1079/QĐ-TTg dated June 17, 2016 on establishment of the National Advisory Council on Financial and Monetary Policies to advise the Government and the Prime Minister on planning and deciding important issues of financial and monetary guidelines and policies within the responsibilities and powers of the Government and the Prime Minister.
The National Advisory Council on Financial and Monetary Policies has the following tasks: Discussing, proposing to the Government, the Prime Minister on major guidelines, policies, projects and important issues of the financial and monetary sector; Advising the Government and the Prime Minister on the determination of financial and monetary policies and plans in each period, measures directed by the Government and the Prime Minister for effective implementation of the policies and plans that have been decided; Counseling on other issues related to the implementation of financial and monetary policies and plans as assigned by the Prime Minister.
