In his opening remarks, Mr. Vu Van Long stated that the DIV’s strategic plan towards 2025 had been developed with an aim to implementing the DI Law till 2020 and gradually applying international standards in the next period of time. It was therefore high time for DIV to study core principles and relevant international practices to make assessments and proposals to build a stronger and more effective deposit assurance. Since 2009, deposit insurers worldwide have conducted their self-assessment of compliance with IADI Core Principles which helped them draw their development plan for more effective operation.
“The “IADI Core principles for effective deposit insurance systems” are intended as a framework supporting effective deposit insurance practices. DIV should stay updated with these standards to keep pace with the international trend, particularly in global integration process. In fact, DIV is still challenging with challenges; Therefore it needs to overcome and be prepared for the upcoming period. I expect the participants to gain useful knowledge, then apply it effectively in practice; Meanwhile, actively raise issues and participate in discussion during the course” Mr. Vu Van Long emphasized.
During the training course, participants were provided with practical insights into the core principles as well as assessment methodology. As the result, participants from headquarters and regional branches gained more knowledge and experience about deposit insurance operation so as to fulfill assigned tasks.
