Speaking at this event, Chairman Nguyen Quang Huy said that Core Principles for Effective Deposit Insurance Systems was first issued in 2009 and amended with some contents in 2014 by International Association of Deposit Insurance (IADI). This is the criteria which helps the deposit insurance agencies to assess the quality of their operations, find out the limitations and overcome them.
To turn DIV into a modern and integrated deposit insurance agency, it is necessary to study and recommend the authorities to amend and supplement the contents inconsistent with the international standards of the effective deposit insurance model. The international experiences exchanged and discussed at this seminar would be an important basis for the Board to set up DIV’s development strategy.

Chairman Nguyen Quang Huy emphasized that DIV has still faced with many difficulties and challenges in working out its strategy. However, owing to the initial advantages in the implementing process and the positive contribution of the leaders and the staff, DIV would try to complete the DIV’s strategy soon towards an effectively, sustainably developed deposit insurance agency, therefore contributing to enhance the DIV’s position in the Vietnam’s financial safety network.
In this seminar, the participants focused on studying Core Principles for Effective Deposit Insurance Systems, thereby they assessed the compliance of the Vietnam deposit insurance system against the Core principles. Besides, they proposed applying the Core principles into DIV’s development strategy up to 2020 and its vision up to 2025. In addition, the participants were divided into five groups to discuss each principle of IADI’s Core Principles for Effective Deposit Insurance Systems. After that, the representative of each group presented the group discussions results and then continued discussing with others.
