The purposes of the working survey were to search, exchange and discuss the practical experiences of the DICJ in imeplementing key operations, and establish supporting environment for such operations, including resolution of failed banks; pay-out system and risk management; experiences of building law on deposit insurance as a basis to apply the best practices of deposit insurance models; activities of public relation; improvement of information technology to support deposit insurance operations; etc…
Receiving the working survey group, Mr. Mutsuo Hatano – Deputy Chairman of The DICJ stressed “this was a favorable time for the two organizations to share and learn from each other as the DICJ has been undertaking reforms on information technology system and making revision on the law on deposit insurance.” “The DICJ has many precious experiences in problem banks resolution in Japan, in addition to depositor protection and financial stability guarantee”, he added. Japan’s law on deposit insurance that was revised and supplemented, helps the DICJ to be able to aggressively implement the model of DI to the best practices, say, financial assistance for recerveiship, M&A, P&A of problem banks.
