Attending the seminar were Mr. Vu Van Long – Deputy General Director in charge; Ms. Pham Bao Khanh – full-time member of the Board of Directors (BOD); Mr. Nguyen Linh Nam and Ms Phan Thi Thanh Binh – Deputy General Directors; Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hien – the BOD controller in charge of general affairs and representatives from the departments at the DIV's headquarters and branches in Hanoi and other provinces via a teleconference system.
As reported at the seminar, the research activity in the DIV has always been positively and effectively conducted with the considerate direction of the Board of Directors (BOD) and Board of Management (BOM) . Since 2020, the DIV has finished the research and acceptance of 28 projects at the DIV level. In general, all the projects prove to be highly applicable and suitable for the orientation and operational targets of the DIV. The project's results have been applied in daily activities, contributing to the improvement of the organization's work quality, supporting the amendment of the Law on Deposit Insurance, and fulfilling the legal corridor for the sake of promoting the DIV's functions and tasks.
The seminar presented 2 out of 5 successfully defended projects in 2023, including (i) Project "The supervision conducted by the Deposit Insurance of Vietnam as oriented by the Development Strategy of Deposit Insurance and the Basel's standards" led by Mr. Nguyen Linh Nam – the DIV's Deputy General Director; (ii) Project "The role of the deposit insurance in promoting financial inclusion" led by Ms. Phan Thi Thanh Binh - the DIV's Deputy General Director.
Chairing and speaking at the seminar, Mr. Vu Van Long revealed that the two projects were among the projects conducted in 2023 that the Acceptance Committee highly appreciated. They also possess high applicability for the DIV in the context of implementing the Development Strategy of Deposit Insurance and reviewing and amending the Law on Deposit Insurance.

Representatives of 02 research projects presented their summary and updated reports to the seminar participants.
Specifically, the project "The supervision conducted by the Deposit Insurance of Vietnam as oriented by the Development Strategy of Deposit Insurance and the Basel's standards" focused on the overall assessment of the compliance of the DIV to the Basel's Core Principles for Effective Banking Supervision and the Core Principles for Effective Deposit Insurance Systems developed by the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI); the assessment of the practical supervision conducted by the DIV and presentation of recommendations for improving the efficiency of the supervision activities in accordance with international standards and in the orientation of the Development Strategy of Deposit Insurance and Proposal for amending and supplementing the Law on Deposit Insurance.
For the project "The Role of the Deposit Insurer in Promoting Financial Inclusion," the research team looked into the current situation of financial inclusion with the accessibility, usage, and quality of financial products and services in Vietnam, as well as the role of the DIV in promoting financial inclusion in Vietnam. Finally, the research presented some recommendations for improving public awareness of the deposits and the deposit insurance policy that protects depositors and contributes to financial stability and financial accessibility; the research proposed to expand the scope of deposit insurance to electronic and digital deposits once they are officially recognized by Vietnam's government so that depositors' rights are guaranteed.
The seminar also received discussions from the participants focusing on the developing, completing and presenting of suggestions to upgrade the quality of DIV's research projects.
