Raising awareness of and disseminating information on DI policy helps students understand more about the rights, obligations and legitimate interests of depositors, thereby providing proper orientations for their future actions. In turn, students will be the new generation that will set new financial behavior trends and spread them widely in the community through their actions.
In order to achieve above-mentioned goals, the DIV has constantly focused on expanding public relations, actively coordinated with organizations, unions such as the Youth Union at academies, universities and colleges. Besides, the DIV has used new communication channels to create useful playgrounds for students, which are extracurricular activities combined with law and policy education, for example, the online contest entitled “Getting to know the operations of the DIV” held recently at the University of Economics and Business Administration - Thai Nguyen University.

Thanks to the enthusiastic participation of the students, there were 1,400 entries sent to the contest organizers in a month after the launching of the contest. Mr. Vu Van Long –DIV Deputy General said, with the aim of raising the next generation-cum-future depositors’ awareness, the DIV had chosen the form of a contest to help students learn more about DI. In return, the DIV would take this opportunity to receive constructive comments and practical suggestions from lecturers and students in order to improve DI policy in Vietnam.
Evaluating the outcomes of the contest, Mr. Bui Van Khoa - Director of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) Branch in Thai Nguyen province affirmed that DI is one of the pillars of the national monetary policy. Although the DI policy has been introduced for a fairly short period of time, it has contributed to the stability of the Vietnamese currency, the firm development of credit institutions, and national economic development. Therefore, adequately equipping students with knowledge of DI as well as professional skills is necessary and relevant to the current context.
According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Quang Huy, Rector of the University of Economics and Business Administration - Thai Nguyen University, though DI is not a new concept, not everyone knows it. The contest was a valuable opportunity for lecturers and students, especially students of accounting, business administration and banking and finance, to learn about DI activity in order to enhance their knowledge and understanding of economics and banking. Mr. Tran Quang Huy stressed that the DIV and the SBV Branch in Thai Nguyen had jointly held a useful knowledge-exchanging event, creating favorable conditions for students to acquire practical knowledge and get familiar with one of important financial organizations in the country.
Students eagerly participate in the contest on DI policy.
At the communication event, the students actively discussed contest questions and DI policy with the representative of DIV’s leaders. Student Nguyen Thi Huong Anh - Accounting Faculty, the first-prize winner of the contest, said that this was a useful playground as well as a very practical extracurricular activity for students. “The knowledge acquired in the contest is of great importance to finance students like me. I have received useful information about DI and can share with my relatives and friends”- Huong Anh said. Sharing the same opinion, student Nguyen Thi Ngoc Mai - Business Administration Faculty said “much of information contained in the contest questions and answers given by the DIV’s leaders was unknown to me before. Therefore, organizing the contest like this is a very effective way to provide us with specialized knowledge necessary for our career plans ".
With the purpose of raising awareness of people, especially the youth, about DI policy, the DIV always strives to adopt new and innovative ways to bring DI policy closer to students. Contests on learning about policies or communication events held for colleges and universities will help the DIV to "train" students to be excellent communicators, promote their pioneering role and encourage them to join hands to bring DI policy closer to the public.
